Jan has lived most of his life in the Oakwood and Chapel Allerton Area of Leeds, and attended Roundhay School before going away to University. Always a keen guitar player, he decided on a change of career in 1997 and studied guitar and violin making and repair at Leeds College of Music, where he was awarded the "Friends' Prize". After leaving college he spent 6 years working full-time for a leading violin retailer in East Yorkshire, gaining valuable workshop and retail experience.
Peter Hall - Chestnut Avenue, Beverley
Pete was brought up in the Rotherham area of South Yorkshire. He successfully completed the Associated Board graded exams in playing both violin and double bass (not usually at the same time) and worked in orchestras in the region. Pete studied at the Newark School of Violin Making and subsequently gained experience in dealing and repairs in South Yorkshire before moving to Beverley in East Yorkshire. He has over 10 years experience in the violin trade and teaches violin repair and making at evening classes.
Chapel Allerton Stringed Instruments offers a wide range of set-up and repair services from premises in Roxholme Place, Leeds LS7 4JQ and Chestnut Avenue, Beverley. On-street parking is readily available, and we are pleased to undertake consultations by appointment during or outside the normal working day.
